Wordless Wednesday - Mystery Bone

Last Wednesday I was at the Orthopedic Specialist with Lil Kiwi and missed visiting everyones WW (frown)... I wrote about Lil Kiwi's visit to Dr. D and said that I would try to post pictures of the X-Rays... Well, this was the best I could do and it wasn't easy since I don't have a light board to use...
What you see is Lil Kiwi's X-Ray of her hips... There is what looks like an extra bone (with growth plate) from her left hip to groin area... Dr. D has never seen or heard of this and so we are waiting for a CT scan to find out more about the extra bone... Currently, Dr. D believes it could possibly be an extra Femur and that isn't good... Oh and I included the X-Ray of Lil Kiwi's small toe.. You can see that the Metatarsal of the fourth digit is much smaller...Hmm I guess this was a Mostly Wordless Wednesday...

    Is that extra bone something they might have to remove?? Keep us posted. I missed last WW too, didn't have internet at the time.. :(

    How strange. I would think the extra bone is nothing to worry about, but I am no doctor. I will keep Lil Kiwi in my thoughts. Hopefully it's no big deal. :o)

    Wow. I would expect that extra bone to be uncomfortable for Lil Kiwi. I hope you can get some answers - good news answers...

    Hopefully it is not too uncomfortable for her to have an extra bone. I hope they will be able to fix it soon.

    Wow. All I can think when I see those x-rays is "OUCH!" I'm not a professional by any stretch but I would guess that hurts? I'll continue to think good thoughts for you guys!

    That makes me so sad. I hate it when something goes wrong with the little one's. Hopefully the cat scan can give you some better knowing as to what is next.

    I can imagine the spare femur being a problem but you caught it before it grew so large it hurt her! Sounds like you're right on top of things mom.... we will keep well wishes in our hearts for you and your brave little one!

    That is crazy! I am curious to see what they decide to do, or if he checks with other colleagues of his and if they've heard or seen it before.

    That is intriguing for sure - poor girl! My hip started having sympathy pains looking at the X-Ray... :)

    Hang in there! We went thru LOTS with our son, my advice would be to keep asking to see a better Dr. if you aren't comfortable. You will know in your gut if you have the right Dr.

    Lil Kiwi is the cutest girl ever. And she has the cutest fourth metatarsal. :-)
