No weight gain but some weight loss
As for her appointment... They asked questions and looked at her... Ordered some tests to be done that they believe will show nothing but want to rule out everything... Otherwise, besides wanting to see a MRI of her spine, they think the problem is not genetic... So, I'm happy that there was no bad news... No good news either really since we still don't know what is wrong but that's okay right now... Monday we go to John Hopkins to see the 2nd Orthopedic Surgeon and maybe get more answers about Lil Kiwi...
Then there is the whole Wee Man issue... I do not even know where to begin with this old problem that has new issues... See I understand that kids do not always want to eat what they are given... I know that getting kids to eat what we (as parents) want them to eat is sometimes tough... Really I know this is a problem for probably 99.99% of parents... My problem is Wee Man has been like this since he was a baby... He was born at 8 lbs. 4 oz. so he was a little heavier than average...
We saw the Nutritionist (who weighed 250+ lbs herself) and got the answer of just slather butter on EVERYTHING and he will gain weight... Brilliant! Why didn't I think of that... Oh wait.. I tried but he still won't eat.... This is when he was about a year old...
Then we moved here and had a new doctor... Told doctor about concern over weight issue and his refusal to eat... Told not to worry all kids go through this... Plus I should be happy that he is underweight and not obese like most of the kids now adays... hmmm yes I guess minus he is a tad more underweight than I would like... So, at 2 1/2 years old Wee Man weighted in at a whopping 32 lbs...
Research.. I'm good at it... So I research if I don't know something or want to know more... I read all the articles about kids and eating... Tips.... Plans... Rules... Then I put them to use... Only one problem... Not a single one has worked.... Back to the doctor for another yearly physical and once again express concerns over Wee Man not gaining weight... Given paperwork about getting PICKY eaters to eat... Hmmm okay...
See the problem is that it really doesn't matter what I do he refuses to eat... examples...
- offer only food you are having (he will just not eat)
- set time limit (he will sit until time is over and not eat)
- offer food choices of A or B (he will want C and then pick either A or B and refuse to eat)
- offer same food over and over until eaten (he will just not eat for hours/days)
- give them whatever they want (he will ask for something and then as soon as he has it refuse to eat)
- etc...
Thus, I kept him home from school Monday on the off chance that I was wrong and he really was sick... Nothing wrong Tuesday minus him refusing to eat... Same this on Wednesday... Thursday same thing refusing and complaining about what is offered... In fact, I made him eggs for breakfast and gave him the drink he always asks for... know what happened? He whined that he wanted milk and anything but eggs... I can't win.. Anyways I digress... So, the day is normal until it was bedtime... I inform him it is time to get ready for bed and suddenly....
First thing this morning I called for a doctor appointment... Another missed day of school.... Bloodwork to rule out things (although the Dr. is sure there will be nothing there) .... Her (and my) theory... Wee Man is fighting for Power and might have a under lying food aversion.... Two weeks and some changes at home to see if things are different and if not off to a *gasp* Head Doctor!!! As of today, my 5 year old son weighs in at 34 lbs... Yep... in three years he has only gained TWO pounds... I believe my concern has merit... In fact, he lost a pound since his appointment in August..
I totally see the Power plays Wee Man does... The problem (and I will be in trouble for saying this) is DH... It doesn't matter what rules I put into play IF everyone doesn't follow them... DH will give Wee Man a small bite of something here and there... Or a sip of something.... All when he isn't suppose to be.... As soon as Wee Man gets that bite or sip the first thing he does is....
*huge poo eating grin* "DH gave me a bite/sip of this... HA HA (think the laugh Nelson does on the Simpsons) "
When I made a comment to DH about him being part of the problem well that got me a big head shake and uh-huh.... He doesn't see it like that... ARGGGGG
I do see where DH is coming from... I really really realllllly do... If Wee Man isn't eating then he loses weight... However, giving in to him isn't helping...
It looks like it is going to be a long two weeks...
Anyone have ideas I haven't tried yet? I'm at my wits end here...

Sickness... Lil Kiwi...Monday
Wee Man is either sick or a really good actor... I say he is a really good actor that just so happens to feign being sick... No fever.. no pains... not a single thing... Until it is time to eat something he doesn't want... Then the drama starts... So much more to this but it's late so perhaps later this week we will delve into the mind of Wee Man...

DiningRoomsDirect.com Review
I love being in my kitchen and when we stop moving every few years I have plans...big plans... Normally, I am all about matching and color; however, in the kitchen I like the food to be my color. For that reason the notNeutral collection caught my eye. The collection has modern fun funky designs and some that are classic and simple.

Never Forgotten
Adding this after being asked...
Where were you when the events of September 11, 2001 happened?
I was actually in Hawaii... I woke up and took my wee pup outside came back in and turned the TV on... Watched as a plane hit one of the Towers and thought to myself "Hmmm that's a crazy movie".... Then as I realized what was really happening I rushed to the bedroom and told my (ex) boyfriend what was happening... He then ran to the TV... phone in hand.... eyes fixed on the tube.... Calling to find out when he flew out (he was a pilot)...

Quoth the Raven
I adore Edgar Allan Poe...
While he did live a rather odd life and his death was surrounded in mystery; he was a fantastic writer. He contributed greatly to the genres of horror and science fiction, in fact, Poe is now considered the father of the modern detective story and highly lauded as a poet. Ahhh yes, dark macabre works call to me.
Two months ago, I walked into the local Ollies (a super awesome discount store) and almost drooled when I found a book filled with Poe's works. After thumbing through the pages I start plotting my plan to buy the book. Yet, how can I get DH to agree to getting a book that isn't for the children. BAH! Realizing I don't even know how much it costs I flip it over..... $49.99 marked down to $12.99..... My heart flutters... My fingers run over the smooth fake gold covered page edges...
I start to hatch my plan... First, place highly wanted treasure down on the table where I found it. Which is the worst idea because in this store that might be the only one. Second, make eye contact with DH. Third, act surprised and pick up said highly wanted treasure and try not to drool all over it. Fourth, make a comment about how great Poe was and what a nice book this would be for the kids (many many many years down the road). This is where DH surprised me with agreeing but also suggesting we visit Poe's grave and take pictures of the kids to put in the book (my plan all along) ..... Then watch as the book is placed into the cart and then make sure nothing else in the cart touches it.
Well, today we drove down and took some pictures of Edgar Allan Poe's grave, memorial, and house. Not too many pictures because in the rush to get there someone (raises hand) forgot to grab a new SD card so the one we had was full. Ballox!!!! What was I thinking or rather not thinking... Anyway... Below are a few of the photos from today... Enjoy...
Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849)
Did you know that a mysterious Poe Toaster visits Poe’s grave on his birthdays and leaves a partially filled bottle of cognac and three roses. On the site where he was first buried (seen in picture 2) now stands a stone with a carving of a raven and the inscription;
Quoth the Raven, Nevermore Original Burial Place of Edgar Allan Poe From October 9, 1849 Until November 17, 1875.......
In a dedication ceremony in 1875, Poe’s remains were reinterred with his aunt Maria Clemm’s in the Poe Memorial Grave (seen in picture 1) which stands in the cemetery’s corner at Fayette and Greene Streets. Letters from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Lord Alfred Tennyson were read, and Walt Whitman (another of my favorites) attended.

Wall Stickers Giveaway from OnlinePosterPrinting.com
Their wall stickers are:
- Available in any Size up from 8" x 8" to 58" x 100"
- Water Resistant
- Fade-resistant Inks
- Multi-surface, Peel and Stick, Repositionable
- Next-Day Turnaround
I can think of many uses and photos to become wall stickers. Wee Man loves the zoo and you know I have several photos from all those visits. It would be nice for him to have a poster of an animal he actually saw. The best part about the wall stickers is there are no tacks, nails, staples, or tape for Wee Man to get his hands on. I think this would make a wonderful wall sticker to put on his wall. Of course, I think it would be a wonderful idea to put some photos of family down at Lil Kiwi's eye level. That way she gets to see them and hopefully will remember them the next time we visit.
Prize: OnlinePosterPrinting.com has offered 2 of my readers a chance to win a 24" x 24" Wall Sticker. Only open to US Residents and winner pays for shipping fees.

Lil Kiwi Recheck and More
I have even more good news..
Today, we officially got the word that Lil Kiwi's surgery back in June was a success. *doing the happy dance* Which also means NO MORE DAILY MEDICINE!!!! Since 6 weeks old everyday Lil Kiwi had to have her medicine but no more... *happy dance*
Words can not describe how elated I am.... In fact, the other possible problem isn't even an issue really... Dr. V said that now she will always be at risk for infections and that we have to be extra watchful.... No biggie... I am already a watchful hawk when it comes to Lil Kiwi... *pausing to do another happy dance*
Can you tell how excited I am!!!
However, there was also some not so good news... BAH Dang it... I took the x-rays of the mystery bone in for Dr. V to see... He asked what Dr. D had said about Lil Kiwi's spine... Huh? Well, she was more focused on her hips and that bone... Well, it turns out he thinks he sees some serious issues with it and told me he was glad we were getting a second opinion... Then he proceeded to say he was going to write a letter to Lil Kiwi's PCM telling her that she needs to get more imagining done on Lil Kiwi.... He also told me which Dr. would have the best chance of knowing what to do with Lil Kiwi's extra bone and spine... Have I mentioned before how much I really like Dr. V...
